Why Internet Connectivity is Key For Events

June 10, 2021
The world is opening back up and the entertainment industry is rescheduling live events all over the country. Before putting on an event there are many connectivity issues for these companies to consider. Whether it’s a music festival, one time concert, street fair, or any other temporary event they all can be pushed to the next level with temporary internet connectivity. Events need internet; however, they are often held in areas that don’t have ready to use internet service available.

Connectivity Needs for Events

There are many reasons temporary events often need internet service. This is especially true for ticketed events. The entertainment industry is rapidly moving away from physical tickets for events to digital ticketing. This trend was only increased by the impact of COVID-19 on the world. With events going paperless, ticketing is often on smartphones utilizing QR codes and other digital ticketing technology. To process these tickets, you need internet connectivity. Furthermore, the technology to process these tickets cannot rely on a best effort 4G LTE solution or no access at all. This is particularly true at events where there are large crowds crowing the nearby 4G LTE tower’s service resulting in poor service.

Temporary events from concerts to festivals and beyond are almost always using outside vendors for drinks and food, or merchandise to provide a great experience for their attendees. This reveals another need for internet at temporary events. This is to supply internet for vendor’s point of service (PoS) machines. These vendors typically use PoS machines to conduct their business in the best possible way for the event environment. These PoS systems require internet access to process credit card transactions quickly making a dedicated service for vendors mission critical to provide the best customer experience for both your vendors and the attendees. With events rapidly going paperless, PoS machines are a must for any vendor at an event.

When it comes to live music specifically, there are often additional connectivity needs backstage that don’t exist for other live events. Whether it be for livestreams, or to run equipment backstage it’s important for concert crew to have a reliable source of internet to ensure the concert goes off without a hitch.

One Ring Networks Fixed Wireless

One Ring Networks fixed wireless internet service is the perfect solution for these temporary internet needs. Fixed wireless is a microwave internet technology that can be set up in as little as two weeks and requires no permanent infrastructure or trenching. Fixed wireless can be set up anywhere with line of sight to one of our Points of Presence quickly with no permanent construction needed making it ideal for temporary events that are in pop up locations with no existing infrastructure.

Our fixed wireless service offers a dedicated internet circuit with a high-speed connection ensuring low latency and 99.999% uptime. This helps your team avoid best effort traffic problems no matter how large the crowd. This is because with our dedicated internet circuit you and your team are the only ones with access instead of relying on cell towers that are overly populated on the day of an event.

One Ring Networks has a tremendous amount of experience doing temporary events across the country. This has given us a unique perspective on temporary internet service and taught us the flexibility and creativity needed to adapt to any project’s specific needs. Our team of engineers and on-site technicians have a proven track record of success and expertise to ensure your event’s connectivity stays connected and suits your needs.
